My high school life has definitely been a rocky one. I started off my Freshman year by doing well in school, but only to please my parents. I had no interest in getting good grades for colleges. My Sophomore year was a disaster. My GPA dropped to below a 2.0 and I completely stopped caring about school. It wasn’t until my Junior year that I had started getting good grades again, but for colleges and myself rather than for my parents. Now here I am, typing this at the end of my Senior year. This year, with college apps, I have tried my hardest to get the highest grade possible. For the first time in my life I had a 4.0 GPA (weighted), and I refused to accept a C grade as passable. I experienced so many of the aspects of this school, as editor of the Feature Page, a Peer Mediator, and Historian of the student body. The first half of my high school career I took everything for granted, and now I wish I could repeat those first two years and do it right. I have made so many amazing friends in my high school career that have inspired me to achieve more than I thought possible. Had it not been for last years Historian and Feature Editor, Jennifer Ortiz, I would have never run for Historian at all. For that, I thank her. I also have to thank the teachers. I have had so many teachers that I will be eternally grateful to, but by far my favorite teachers have been Dr. Robbins, Ms. Kokino, Mrs. Becerra, and Mr. Ackerman. Biggest thanks go to Dr. Johnson for being the best teacher I have ever had (though he is an administrator now). He was more than a teacher, he was a true friend; even with the constant banter we had. To any future or current students: Enjoy these years. They go by fast so take them for all they’re worth. And that’s not to leave out my best friends in the school also graduating: Jon, Gio, Lucas, Elias, Natalie, A Ra, Clara, Anya, Diana, Daisy, Juan, Hazel, Siera. And to not leave out my underclassmen friends: Denise, Lani, Gabby, Kumary, Lisa, and Jenn. Next year I’ll be in New York at Adelphi University, and I’ll be thinking of my high school memories to know there’s always someone there for me. Thank you for everything.
