Just looking back at my four years in high school, I cannot believe how quickly time has passed. Although I am ecstatic about attending college next year, I cannot help but feel bittersweet about leaving high school because during these years, Uni had become my second home.
I spent hours and hours after school, whether it was to help with school activities, watch a home volleyball game, or just hang out with my friends. I made strong, family-like friendships that I know will last a life time.
Now that senior year has come to an end, it makes me extremely sad that we will be separated. However, I give thanks to all my friends for all the memories, laughs, and support, for I would not be who I am today without you guys.
I am also grateful for the teachers who have allowed me to explore different ranges of my academic interests, encouraged me to do better, and go beyond expectations.
I would like to give a special thanks to Mr. Ackerman for boosting my self-confidence, teaching me about the importance of teamwork, and allowing me to become a better leader and individual. Before I joined Leadership, I was shy and just did as I was told, but after becoming so involved with the leadership class I’ve become so that, “You can’t shut me up,” as Mr. Ackerman would say. Knowing everything Uni has to offer, I have one advice to the underclassmen: take advantage of it.
Finally, I can honestly and sincerely say that I am proud to have been the president of such an amazing school and will be even more proud to be a Uni alumnus. As I go onto pursue higher education, I know it’s going to be difficult to leave Uni behind. Yet, all that I can say is: Thank you University High School.
