For many students, prom night is one of the biggest events of the year. It's a good idea for dates to arrange outfits beforehand to complement each other without clashing. Taking the time to discuss outfits shows that you value each other's opinions. In order to bring a great look together for prom, communication is needed!
1. For the guy: Talk to your date about what SHE plans to wear. Traditionally, the guy matches the girl since guys have a more limited selection. Once you know what type of dress and color she is wearing, matching your date is simple.
2. Choose accessories that match her outfit. For example, if the girl wears a yellow dress and the guy wears a black tuxedo, both should wear complementary colors for accessories. For men, a yellow tie (traditional or bowtie), yellow vest, yellow cummerband and yellow square in the front left breast pocket of the tuxedo jacket. Girls shouldn't worry about matching jewelry, but handbags and scarves should be the same color as the boy's accessories.
3. Buy matching or similar corsages and boutonnieres for each other. The corsage is a small flower bracelet that goes around the female's wrist, while the boutonniere is a flower that is pinned to the boy's lapel. If you both choose the same type of flower type and color, you can't go wrong.
5. Ask your dress shop or formal wear store for assistant. When in doubt, professionals have the answer.
