As baseball season starts up, the players and fans are already excited about all this season may bring. Baseball is a difficult sport that matches a player’s ability to run with their control of hand-eye coordination at bat. The players have the enjoyment of a difficult game as well as competition to look forward to this season.

The players must learn the discipline that playing a sport like baseball needs. It is not all fun and games for those who play. They must run and train just like any other sport, with the added difficulty of batting.

“We practice just about everyday. The only day we don’t practice is Saturday,” said Dillon LeMasters, 12.

This season will consist of the team playing other cities, all leading up to the state championship. State will match the best teams against each other to find this season’s best team. Training will get harder the closer the team gets to making it to their ultimate goal of state.

“I’m really looking forward to hopefully making it to state,” said Zach Armstrong, 11.

Every high school team in the state that is planning  for a state win will constantly be pitted against not only other teams but themselves. Being a sport that requires running as well as dexterity and aim, players must push themselves to their best.

“My biggest rival is myself and overcoming the emotions that try to push down my abilities,” added Glad.

Each season players come and go as new players move in and veterans must take their leave. No two years will ever have the same team together so the players make new friends and adapt to their team’s strengths along the way. No one plays for exactly the same reason as anyone else, but all enjoy the sport and the teamwork they accomplish.

“I play baseball because I love the game and I would rather play baseball then anything else,” said Ben Stacey, 9.
