Former Cleveland Student Robs Bank
Advertising

Former Cleveland student Stephen Lubeck robbed a bank in Vancouver, Washington on Dec. 1, 2011. Lubeck told Vancouver police, “I don’t want to live anymore.”

Stephen Lubeck was part of the class of 2012. However, Lubeck dropped out during his sophomore year of high school.

Lubeck entered the Wells Fargo with a BB gun.  Lubeck hoped that this would cause the police to end his life.  After stealing $300,000 from the bank, he ran away from the bank.

Officers caught up to Lubeck one block away from the bank. Lubeck pointed his BB gun at the officer and said he would shoot him in five seconds.  This is when Officer Jeffrey Anaya began firing at Lubeck.  One of the shots hit Lubeck in the upper leg.

Lubeck was brought to Peace Health Southwest Medical Center.  After he recovered, he was held in Clark County Jail.  Lubeck’s bail is set at $500,000.

Lubeck first appeared in court on Dec. 6.  He was in a wheelchair at this time.  During this time it was determined that Lubeck had been plotting a plan for suicide, a month before this happened.

His arraignment is scheduled for Dec. 16. He faces charges of kidnapping, robbery and assault.

Lubeck told an investigator that he is upset that the police did not kill him. He added that he would still like to die.
