Randy Bermea, 12, just completed his second trip to the state track meet. His victory has made him the first at the school to be a state champ.
“It feels good I guess,” Bermea said. His joke was obvious. All smiles, Bermea admits that it is a life-long dream fulfilled, to be state champ.
“I get this week off, Bermea said, “I lifted yesterday for the first time in weeks, I’m so sore.” Even on his week off the gold medalist shows that his ethic reveals his hopes, and his coaches encouragement.
“He’s the first one at this campus to be state champ,” Noyola said. Remembering with gratitude the coaches that came before him, Randy’s win makes him feel “awesome.”
“He competes in three weeks, in Albuquerque,” Noyola said. “Its an area meet with New Mexico, Texas, and Arizona.”
They are looking for solid competition because after this meet Randy sets his sights on the U.S. Junior Nationals.
