Fifteen junior class poets from were published in the 2005 edition of Young Poets Speak Out. The students entered a national contest after being offered extra credit in their Humanities class.

Students whose work was selected for publication were recently notified and given the option of purchasing the book the poems were published in.

In a letter to the school, editor Thomas K. Worthen wrote, “The teachers and students of your school should feel honored, as there were thousands of entries in this contest. Most of these entries were not invited to be published. The fact that you have students accepted makes a strong statement about your school.”

The 15 students are Melissa Burns, Kristen Butryn, Caitlin Fillman, Felicia Keyser, Kelsey Lee, April Phillips, Justine Welsh, Heather Wenzel, Cory Siek, Patti Loughlin, Jay Arner, Allison Lear, E.J. Stroman, Shanea Weiss, and Sarah Weiss.
