The Upper Perkiomen music department recently took its annual choir trip, this year to Boston. Most of the musical clubs at the High School had performances at the Boston Music Festival.
There were many concerts from Upper Perkiomen students. Orchestra, the string ensemble, the concert band, “A choir”, Women’s Choir, and Uptones all performed throughout the day Saturday and ended the night with a trip to the Hard Rock Café.
The previous night the group had seen a Boston Symphony concert, which prepared them even more for their own performances.
Then on Sunday the group saw the theatre show “Shear Madness” and dined at a nice local restaurant.
Every year the music department goes on a trip to perform and have a good time. Dr. Mark Thomas, head of the music department, coordinates the trip hoping that it will allow the students to learn more about music and their individual talents.
Last year the group went to Myrtle Beach and came back with constructive criticism that lead to even more motivation to do their best.
Students were excited about this trip, and came back satisfied. Junior Kate Allebach said, “The trip was definitely something to be remembered. Hopefully we musicians can take what we learned and make our music better.
“Truly good musicians went on the trip to get educated and learn something from the judge’s remarks. Mediocre musicians went on the trip to have fun.”
This really sums up how the trip played out, showing that dedicated musicians at Upper Perkiomen High School are really willing to give their all to improve their talent and the school’s music department as a whole.
