The Upper Perkiomen Arts Festival takes place in the Upper Perk High School’s gym this week, starting at 6 p.m. The district-wide collection includes diverse art pieces from grades one through twelve.
The three day arts festival also includes performances from the bands and orchestras at the elementary, middle school, and high school level.
The elementary and middle school orchestras will perform on Wednesday, May 16th at 7 p.m.
On Thursday, May 17th at 7 p.m., the elementary and middle school bands will perform their concert.
On Friday, May 18th the high school band and orchestra will perform, also at 7 p.m.
All band and orchestra concerts will take place in the Upper Perk High School’s auditorium.
One particularly unique aspect of the Upper Perkiomen School District’s art festival is the senior showcases, located throughout the school. Several seniors of the high school organize showcases filled with their own creations.
The art show will consist of pieces created by students in elementary and middle school art classes, as well as several different art classes offered at the high school.
High school students’ art may vary from a drawing or painting class, to a ceramics class.
“I loved 3D Arts and Crafts,” said Felicia Sloyer, a senior, talking about a project she created this year in her art class.
“Charmander was the most stressful project I had completed, but now he kind of serves as a memoir of the fun times in my senior year because that class itself was so much fun. He will be sitting on my desk in my dorm room next year!”
The show generally displays painted portraits and landscapes, pottery, photography, drawing, and more.
