During the last semester of this school year, four students have been recognized for their outstanding academic accomplishments.

Junior Daisy Novianty and seniors Jazlyn Patricio-Archer, Giselle D’Souza and Durin Uddin have recently been honored for their scholastic success with awards and great opportunities.

Novianty applied for the Harvard Book Club Award with hopes to be Sierra Vista High School’s first to receive this prestigious accolade in three years.

The Harvard Book Club is a group of Harvard alumni who award selected students from schools all over the country for their excellent academic performance.

Novianty was one of sixteen very gifted scholars to be chosen for this nationally recognized program.

"I was astounded because I didn’t have any intentions to go to Hardvard; I also felt proud of myself." said Novainty.

Uddin, one of this year’s Valedictorians, has applied to around seven different collages and has already been accepted to many of them.

One of these is the UNR medical program. Uddin will be studying for her biology major to become a physician after finishing.

When asked what the secret to her success was she replied with a smile, "There’s no secret! It’s knowing your limits, strengths and abilities and not being afraid to aim high."

Patricio-Archer, the other Valedicatorian, has recently been accepted to Stanford University with a full-ride scholarship. She plans to major in political science.

She has also been accepted by many universities, including University of California at Berkeley, Georgetown, Syracuse, George Washington, San Francisco, and American University in Washington, DC.

"[I] did what I was passionate about, not a bunch of college prep," Archer states.

Along with being accepted to Stanford, Patricio-Archer also had the once in a lifetime opportunity to meet President Barack Obama.

D’Souza has been approved for a $2,000 Bill Endow Scholarship that Mr. Clyde, the SVHS counseling department coordinator, informed her about.

When it comes to her future plans, D’Souza responded "[After this year] I plan to go to UNLV to major in pre-nursing and minor in psychology."
