There are many different shows of cirque du Soleil, but the one I went to was Quidam at the Assembly Hall in Champaign. Overall, I loved the show. I was blown away with what was shown to me, and it amazed me how a person could do what these performers did. Cirque Du Soleil is comprised of different bazar circus acts enter twined into one plot.
Quidam was about a girl named Zoe that escapes into her very big imagination. It starts with Zoe sitting on her living room floor while she is bored on a rainy day. She looks away and daydreams, then her parents disappear. Suddenly someone knocks on the door, and it is a Man without a head with an umbrella that takes Zoe into her "Imagination."
A Clown named John, has a bunch of workers all dressed in white. John also takes people from the ground floor and has them do stuff while a couple of the performers get ready for their next act.
Some of the things were not appropriate for a younger audience. For example, one of the clowns took four people from the audience and made them play out a movie that he made, each thing the clown made them do was very funny.
In almost every act, Zoe was there sitting on the side of the stage or with John’s pet, which was one a person. Zoe also walked out about three times with red balloons, and every time the balloons were different. Other aspects of the show included a live band for all of the music. Each performer had different music to his or her act.
Other than being very nervous about the performers falling or messing up, I loved all the acts. One of my favorite acts were the Diablo’s, who were girls that had these items similar to Chinese yo-yo’s that were balanced and juggled to each other. Another act, I really enjoyed was the Skipping Ropes; this was a group of 20 acrobats that had solo, duo and group jumps, which blew my mind when 20 people jumped rope together.
There were also the Spanish Spider webs, who were acrobats that had ropes, and they flew around the stage holding on to the ropes.
At one point, they climbed up the rope and made loops with the rope around their feet, waist and ankles then dropped down the rope, which was very cool.
At the end of the show Zoe came back to reality and found her parents. After the show ended, all the performers and actors came out and we all applauded them. The show was amazing, flawless, and breathtaking.
The only thing that could have been improved would be how many stunts there were, I would have liked to have seen a couple more. I would give it a defiantly give it a 10 out of 10. I had A seats, so I would recommend the closer seats to see everything.
I would recommend people go see a show of Cirque Du Soleil if you are into cool illusions, and breathtaking stunts.
