I’ve been hearing people state for years and from when I first started cheering that “cheering is not a sport.”

Of course, I usually hear this from guys,  “Cheering is not a sport,"they will say. Or, "Well, it's just like us guys jumping around in little skirts yelling about getting louder!’’ a Medina HS senior Randon Romero said.

I would argue that cheerleaders that take cheer seriously don’t just jump around and yell about getting louder.  We are down there on the field get the players motivated, and to support the team.

Even some other girls hate cheerleaders.  Why? I honestly don’t know!! Maybe they’re jealous, or maybe the cheerleaders they know are “stuck up’’ or ‘’snobby’’?

If the cheerleader is stuck up, snobby or arrogant, that so called ‘‘cheerleader’’ shouldn’t be apart of the squad. With that kind of attitude, the cheerleader isn’t taking cheer seriously, is being rude, and is not showing good sportsmanship, the cheerleader isn’t making cheer a sport! She’s doing it for herself; to make herself look better.  But, that type of behavior is only making her look like a, well you know!

S, if you’re a girl like me who loves to cheer for the actual, fun sports part, for the fun and to support the players, don’t listen to guys and their dumb comments! Only listen to the girls who knowwhat being a true cheerleader means!
