The Bulldogs went to Hondo and definitely got the job done. The Dogs came out with 593 total yards, 341 rushing and 252 passing. The win sealed the Bulldogs playoff spot, but eliminated Hondo.
The “Top Dogs” for this game were: senior QB Cole Hubble who went 10-13 passing for 189 yards, senior QB/RB Tyler Stevens with 14 rushes for 233 yards, and senior WR Cisco Ruiz with 7 receptions for 110 yards.
The Dogs were the first to score with 5:31 left in the first quarter. Stevens, playing some time at quarterback, had a 10yd touchdown pass to Cisco Ruiz. Next, with 1:37 left in the first quarter, Cole Hubble had a 71yd touchdown run followed by a failed conversion, making the score 12-0 ‘Dogs.
The next Bulldog touchdown was from a Stevens 31yd pass to Ruiz, followed by Sterling Yurrita’s extra point, making the score 19-0 Dogs. With 4:38 left in the 2nd quarter, Stevens had a 10yd run for another Bulldog TD and the conversion failed, running the score to 25-0 ‘Dogs. Finally, with 2:26 left in the 2nd quarter, Hondo scored on a 3yd run followed by an extra point. With 10 seconds left in the first half, Hubble threw a 20yd TD pass to sophomore Ryan Walker making the score at the half 31-7 Bandera.
The second half started out with Hondo scoring with 4:21 left in the 3rd quarter from a 39yd pass. Not long after Hondo’s score, Tyler Stevens had a 74yd touchdown run, but the PAT failed, making the score 37-14 Dogs.
The fourth quarter was all Hondo’s quarter, as they were the only ones scoring. Hondo’s first score of the quarter came on a 1yd touchdown run followed by the PAT, making the score 31-21 Dogs. In the last 4:07 left in the game Hondo scored on a 23yd pass followed by a 2 point conversion, making the final score of the game 37-29 Bandera.
Friday, the Bulldogs host Lytle for the last regular season game. It is also “Senior Night” in Bandera, so show up and support the team and the 2010 seniors.
