Graduation speakers for this year's ceremony will be Miranda Grier, Erin Gibson, and Alex Fry. Every year, senior students have the opportunity to submit speeches for graduation. Speeches are reviewed anonymously by teachers and two senior students.
"To prepare for my speech for the ceremony, I plan to just calm myself down because I tend to get really nervous. I'll also re-vamp the wording in my speech," said Fry. Along with this, Grier said that she will be nervous to give her speech as well. To overcome her nervousness, she plans to practice a lot. She explains that it also helps to have two of her friends giving speeches along with her that day.
Each speech submitted has to have a topic or direction to make it effective. Finding the topic, however, can be difficult. Gibson said, "Taking speech class inspired me to write and submit a speech. Also, I knew I wanted to use the book The Giver as a topic."
All three senior students will be giving their speeches at the graduation ceremony on June 4.
