Roseville High School alumnus Tedy Bruschi’s jersey was stolen from the coaches’s office in the Roseville High School weight room. The burglary occurred sometime between April 9-12. The Roseville Police Department is unsure of exactly when the crime occurred and the perpetrators have not been found. Bruschi wore the jersey before the Super Bowl during his rookie year in 1996 and signed it for RHS.

     “I think it is horrible that someone would steal a sentimental-valued object from the school and damage school property in the process,” said assistant principal Jon Coleman.

     According to Larry Cunha, who coached Bruschi in high school, the suspect must have broken in by kicking in the window near the hallway. The suspect shattered the frame that held Bruschi’s Jersey and the frame was thrown on the ground.

     “It is disheartening,” said Larry Cunha.

     Roseville Police Department came in last Monday to take pictures. They suspect that the frame contains fingerprints. Roseville police have taken the frame to a lab to be tested for any DNA leads.

     According to Coleman, when and if the suspect comes forth or is found out, he or she will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Due to the value of the jersey and the damage that was done to school property, the person would be charged with grand theft and felony vandalism charges.

     According to sophomore Zac Cunha, the suspect is a student at RHS due to the knowledge of the suspect knowing precisely where the jersey was displayed.

     “I am kind of in shock,” said sophomore Cunha. “I don’t know why anyone would just want to risk stealing the jersey for themselves. They could have taken the TVs and made money.”

     Coleman hopes that the jersey will be returned to RHS. 

     “I am sorry someone would think so little of our students and would do something so mean and hateful,” said Coleman. “I would like it returned.”
