Robotics club is in full force, kicking off another season. Every year the Robotics Club is presented with a challenge in which they must design and construct a robot to perform a specific task. The robot participates with other state schools in a head to head competition.

This year the Robotics Club must construct a robot to throw a 7” ball through a 30” diameter hole 8.5 feet off the ground. The robots will then compete in a three on three match to see how many balls can be thrown through the hole. Mini-competitions also take place based on the website, design and safety of the robot.

The Robotics team will work on end for six weeks meeting every day from 3-5p.m. to build its masterpiece. The team must work together to unanimously agree on a design, then program and physically construct its creation. Through all of the time and effort, the members of the Robotics team find true joy in what they do.

“I like the Robotics Club because it allows me to interact with people of similar interest on one common project,” explains captain Ken Leedle. “It also helps me with college and builds an educational interest.”

“I essentially like the thought of building robots with a group of people,” quotes member Chad Krause, “I also have nothing else to do. It is an intellectual challenge and builds ample opportunities.”

Robotics advisor Mr. Rosa explains all the positive aspects of the Robotics Club. "Kids get real world engineering experience. It also allows them to get hands on in web design, marketing and creative animation. We use software that's out there today."

Robotics Club also gets the experience to work with professionals. Price Engineering the Club and helps it in its progress.

The final competition will be held at the U.S. Cellular Arena March 23rd-25th. Finals will be announced at noon March 25th. All are welcome to attend.
