Pandora.com is a website used to help you find music you like. It works sort of like a search engine, but for music. It is made to help you find music similar to your favorite bands or artists.

In the year of 2000, a group of musicians and technologists came together to create what they call, “The Music Genome Project”. They evaluated every musical attribute, or what they call “genes” and compared them to other bands or artists.

Friends of the group of people who put together the Project would constantly ask musicians to help them find more music they would like. This is when the founder of The Music Genome Project decided to create Pandora.com.

When you first arrive at Pandora.com, it is very basic and at the bottom of the screen, a window pops up asking you to type in an artist or song name. After entering an artist or song name, it may take a few seconds to load.

After the window finishes loading, it will play one song by the band you entered. After that, it searches the musical “genes” to find songs that are similar to the artist or song you entered in the first place.

If you don’t like the song that is playing you can always hit the forward button. But because of certain restrictions, there isn’t a back button. Also, because of the same restrictions, you are only allowed to skip forward ten times each hour.

You can create an account on Pandora.com and it only asks for a little bit of personal information. It asks for your e-mail address, password (for Pandora.com log-ins, not for your e-mail account), birth year, gender (optional) and zip code. Once you create an account, you can create up to one-hundred stations and switch back and forth between them.

The great thing about Pandora.com is that it isn’t all artists you already know. There are several artists that aren’t renowned yet and Pandora.com introduces them.

Pandora.com is a great website to go to if everything you are listening to is just getting old. The website is very basic and not hard to figure out. Within seconds on the site you can be listening to any of your favorite artists or bands and music similar to them.
