In an attempt to impress their coaches and teammates, many lacrosse hopefuls have spent the last several weeks preparing for the start of the spring season, practicing essential skills such as cradling the ball, throwing both left and right handed, and running faster than their opponents. All of these skills are closely scrutinized by head coach Matt Walsh and assistant coach Ben Snyder. With a brand new season ahead, the boys lacrosse team has another chance to shine. After qualifying for the district competition last season, every teammate is ready to progress even further this season. Preseason started on March 5th, and every athlete came prepared to work. In order to do well, every athlete needs to be focused and mentally prepared to face their toughest opponents, Allentown Central Catholic and Parkland. This upcoming season for boys’ lacrosse is going to be all about change. A large number of new players will join the team along with a new assistant coach, Ben Snyder, former Southern Lehigh High School lacrosse captain. Snyder, a former lacrosse coach last year for the Moravian girls’ lacrosse team, states, “I’m very excited to be one of the boys lacrosse coaches; I love the sport and I’m just really excited to get to coach lacrosse again!” Like the students coming onto the team excited and strong, so is Snyder; he is very confident in the players and the team: “I want to make this team a leading team in the league,” he explains. With the season just starting, there are many possibilities for the boys’ lacrosse team. Even though the season could go either way, many of the athletes are excited for the new season. Returning seniors, Eric Rivers and Billy Heurich, exclaimed, “This season is going to be a great year!”
