Teenager and A Job? Wednesday, February 29, 2012 By Elle Maiyer
Being a teenager and having a job is very difficult, especially when you are involved with extracurricular activities and have school every day. I want a job so I can stop asking my parents for money to go out and do things. In addition, I want to be able to buy my own clothes and other things for myself and not be dependent on other people. My day consists of school for eight hours and then I stay at school and have soccer practice for two more hours after that. By the time I get home, it is 6:30 pm, but later than that when I have games that day. Once I am home, I have to shower, eat and do homework. By the time I finish all of that, it is time to go to bed. Now where am I supposed to fit in the job that I want? To have a job you don’t need a car, but it would be very helpful. I don’t have a car so that doesn’t really help me much on transportation. My mom, dad and brother all work and have commitments of their own so they would be unable to take me to work even if I did have a job. I am not sure which of the reasons are holding me back from having a job. It is a combination of both to me, because if I had a car I would be able to drive straight from practice to work, and if I didn’t play soccer, than it would open up more of my time to have a job. I hope that by this summer I will have a car and be able to have a job. Well, that is my plan and I can’t wait! |
