Softball Players Start Getting in Shape

Monday, March 01, 2010 By Ana Novakovic

The Sierra Vista High School girls softball team is starting out this year as mostly a new team. Welcoming many amateur members, the team is expecting a few returning memebers as well. Though the official games do not start until Fri. March 19 against Del Sol High Shcool the team has started preparing slowly and getting the players in shape. Hoping that the season will go fairly well, the team is planning on giving its best efforts and creating a strong unity among the teammates. “My goal for the team is to be supportive and help everyone become a better athlete,” said sophomore Kathleen Oliver. The team has not been together long enough to recognize each others’ strengths and weaknesses yet, but they definitely plan on working on improving the teamwork. The girls softball team is welcoming anyone that would like to join and be a part of the team this season, it is still not too late to be called a teammate. Many of the girls have been practicing softball for years and some are new to the sport but all athletes are welcome. SVHS might also be expecting athletes from nearby magnet schools to join that will definitely benefit the team. A fun season awaits and all are hoping to achieve some big goals for the team as well as personal goals. “I plan on having fun and progressing for the most part this season,” said Oliver.
