Music Is the source of everything

Thursday, October 11, 2007 By Peter Henckel

“Therefore, this class is the source of everything.” Every teacher says it. You know you’ve heard it before. His or her subject is the true source of everything. It all boils down to them, not all those other silly classes you’re taking. They even have diplomas to prove it. That’s right; a simple piece of paper proves all of their intelligence in the source of everything. We, the simple students, are not worthy. Get to school early in the morning. Go to your science class. “Science is the beginning of everything. Scientists/archeologists have almost proven it,” they say. The bell rings. Exit the class and take a left down the hallway. Go to your social studies class. “Social studies is the study of everything in the political world, and politicians control everything we can do. Therefore this class is the most important,” they state in their authoritative manner. The bell rings. Stop for lunch…Take a right at the intersection. Go to your English class. “History didn’t start until wrote things down, so language is the most important thing we have,” you hear as the bell wakes you from your slumber and sends you to the next class. Head straight to Math. “Numbers are the real source of everything. Can’t have letters without numbers,” says the all-knowing local math teacher. So there you have it. Everything is the source of everything. Confused? Here’s my opinion. They’re all wrong. Music is the authentic source of all. Think about it. What’s one of the major classes you took today that hasn’t blabbered on about itself and focused on the group as a whole instead? Music class. There’s a song for everything nowadays. What about lyrics? They can range anywhere from simple rhymes to you dancing to real-life meaningful-down-to-the-last-word poetry. But here’s the big thing. There’s a scientific rumor going around that the smallest known pieces of anything (anything being the currently known source of everything) are microscopically microscopic wires that bend or “twang” like a guitar. There you have it. The source of everything may simply be the individual strings that make up the grand Universe/Guitar of Life.
