“With six games behind them, both the freshman and sophomore teams are slowly achieving up to standards,” said Coach Steve Ackerman.

Their game against Hamilton on Oct.15 gave the Wildcats home court advantage but apparently not enough spirit to bring the team a win.

The Frosh Wildcats started their sixth game with high hopes to defeat the Hamilton Yankees, but the team lost optimism when it ended a disappointing first quarter 10-21. Trying to pull themselves up, Freshman Roy Nam demonstrated terrific fundamentals and skills, while Freshman and Captain Beau Bray displayed tremendous spirit. They kept a steady pace during the game but unfortunately didn’t bounce back after halftime, ending the game 60-71.

The sophomores attempted to bring a potential win, but they were also out of luck when their first quarter ended 8-19, in Hamilton’s favor, and their second quarter rolled downhill with a score of 19-43. When the third quarter rolled around, the team players made an enormous comeback, finishing the quarter 50-52. However, their effort was cut short by a final loss of 68-74.

“This proved to be an up-and-down game, but overall we had great effort and superb play from ‘Duka’ [Enduka Onyenuforo] and Robert Sims,” said Soph Roman Shapiro.

The Freshmen lost 38-53, and the Sophomores lost 37-50 at the homegame played yesterday against Palisades.

The overall record for the freshman team stands at 1-6, while the sophomore team positions at 2-5. “This year has been a good experience along with a great team,” said returning player and Soph Capt. Sloane Flashman. “I expect us to be a contender in our league.”

The freshmen have had a tough time adapting to their coach’s routine. “Having the coach watch your every move and scout you for future teams like J.V. and Varsity has been a nerve-wracking experience,” said Bray. “My advice is—be in shape.”
