Hold the salt because Pepper Dennis has plenty of spice. Charming, witty, and hilarious, it is a perfect finish to a dull Tuesday night.

A tough, driven young television reporter, Pepper Dennis (Rebecca Romijn) is determined to trample any odds that stand in the way of her goal of one day becoming a news anchor. Pepper’s plans screech to a halt, however, when she discovers that her passionate one night stand, Charlie Babcock (Josh Hopkins), is the station’s new leading man.

Workaholic Pepper finds herself losing control and focus as she struggles to suppress her emotions because her “by the book” nature will not let her mix work with pleasure. Pepper’s attempts to keep her signature cool lead to side- splitting laughs as her inner klutz sends her slipping and falling head first toward embarrassment.

Rebecca Romijn shows great intuition as a comedic actress and posseses impeccable timing. She is surprisingly comfortable with physical comedy, seemingly perfectly at ease with falling into puddles, crashing into walls, and all-in-all getting plain old dirty.

The cast displays great chemistry and appears to genuinely enjoy working with one another. The most entertaining relationship is by far between Pepper and her nemesis/ heart-throb Charlie. Babcock is handsome, charming, and oh so arrogant, and knows exactly how to push Pepper’s buttons in a most hilarious way.

The two clash heads at every meeting, such as when the pair are forced to enact an example of inappropriate workplace behavior during a sexual harassment seminar at the station.

As a hard hitting newswoman, Dennis is relentless when in search of the perfect story. Such tenaciousness often leads her into dodgy predicaments delivering some of the show’s funniest moments.

A few recent headlines have found Pepper held at gunpoint in a college fraternity, impersonating an escort at a gentleman’s club, as well as chasing a young “Olsen- twinesk” actress accused of murdering her sister.

Cute, funny, clever, and extremely well acted, Pepper Dennis is a pure pleasure. You can catch it, Tuesdays, at 9 on the WB.
