The Lady Wildcats hit the skids in volleyball this past week. After a strong start to the season, the ‘Cats were knocked out in the first round of a tournament held at Venice High School last Friday, October 2, 2010 by the nearly unstoppable Parrots of Poly High School. Poly is a top team with championship aspirations, so there is no shame. A 25-13 loss in the first game was as close as Uni came as they were swiftly dispatched in game two – sent home from the elimination tournament without anything even close to a victory. This past Monday, the Lady ‘Cats were out by the beach and in it early again, losing the opener to the Dolphins of Pali High School by a mere two points. But for whatever reason, the squad could not rally from an initial defeat, surely this one more disheartening. The two-point loss would be their best effort of the day as their nine lives were cut short by back-to-back nine point-plus losses and they were swept-out to sea by Pali. Maybe the best tonic for the sickly ‘Cats can be a return home and a struggling opponent. The ‘Cats are looking to change their luck on Wednesday, at home against the Yankees of Hamilton High School. The Yankees have also been sliding as of late, losers of three straight matches. This could be the moment for the ‘Cats to come out and play. Come out yourself and support your squad! It may be just what the Lady Wildcats to get back up on their paws, dig in their claws and get back to their early season form as the top cats in the league.
