Students excited for the upcoming Homecoming Game filled the stands in the West Gym last Friday for the preliminary pep rally.

Each year the pep rally intends to boost school spirit and raise attendance for upcoming events.

All students were encouraged to wear persimmon and blue to show off their school spirit. At the beginning of the assemblies, students flooded the West Gym from all doors while loudly chanting their graduating years.

Students represented their grade level with their designated class colors. Blue freshman, green sophomores, yellow juniors, and red seniors all painted the stands in the West Gym.

The event, hosted by senior Mariana Cruz and backed up with music from a live DJ, began with the introduction of our student body officers followed by the team captains.

“This year’s rally was one of the best I’ve ever been to,” said captain for the boy’s volleyball team Gabe Ylo. “Being out on the floor was amazing. Everyone was battling to prove which class was the best.”

Students in Uni’s dance company also performed in a variety of interchanging dances during the assembly. The cheerleading squad followed with a routine filled with an array of lifts and acrobatics.

The battle of the classes was especially heated this year, complete with poster thrashing and competitive games.

Hyped by all the lively performances, the crowd welcomed the collection of games that ensued. Sports captains competed in the annual musical chairs contest, which was preceded by the new three-legged race between class representatives. Freshmen were victorious in both assemblies.

“The pep rally was fun and entertaining,” said senior Allen Ahdoot. “It raised our school spirit and support for the Homecoming Game.”

The success of the pep rally was followed by a triumphant victory as our football team destroyed Palisades the next day.
