Winning takes hard work and determination. The Lady Wildcats know what it takes to win, and they are willing to work towards success.

With a record of 1-0 in league, the Batwomen are preparing for their upcoming league games with hopes of improving.

“We haven’t been playing as well as we practiced,” said Captain Rebecca Wardell.

“We’ve been disappointing in terms of functioning as a full cohesive unit,” she added.

In almost all their games, the batwomen had the lead, but could not protect their advantage when it came down to the final innings.

Head Coach Robert Ruiz feels that the girls need to work more on pitching and offense.

“We have been showing improvement in communication and becoming one,” said junior Vanessa Hernandez.

“Before the season we were all different people, but now we have learned to become a team,” Hernandez added.

The girls started off their league season on March 24 against Los Angeles High School, blowing out the Romans with a 21-7 win. Everyone on the team stepped up, giving the Batwomen a chance to score runs.

The Cats also played Hamilton High School at home yesterday. Scores were unavailable at Wildcat press time.

Concurrently, the junior varsity team won against Grant High, 18-17, but lost to LACES, 9-10, and to San Fernando, 7-15.

The Lady Cats will play against Palisades High on March 31.
