The brand new second part of Season 6 of the hit show The Sopranos kicked off on Sunday, April 8th. So far the season is five episodes deep, with four more episodes to go until the end.

If you missed the season so far, there’s no need to worry because you definitely haven’t missed much. So far, Bobby Bacala and Tony Soprano have gotten into a drunken scuffle, New York boss Johnny Sack has died of lung cancer, Phil Leotardo has officially taken over on the New York side, Christopher Moltisanti put out his movie production and later gets into a bad conflict with Paulie Walnuts, Tony starts seeing financial problems with his gambling habits, and Blanca dumps Anthony Junior, leaving him tremendously depressed.

Those are just some of the highlights of the new season, but so far the new episodes have been more disappointing than anything else. The last season was pretty awful and not worth watching at all, so I was hoping this season could make up for it.

Though the season has thus far been a little dry, it is picking up. There are some conflicts building within the mob family, especially between Christopher and the rest of the crew. Chris, as many might know, is struggling to maintain his alcohol-free lifestyle. His absence from the Bing and other meetings has been upsetting the other captains and the boss Tony. This is one conflict that will be very interesting to watch progress, as many predict that Tony’s demise will be at Christopher’s hands. Michael Imperioli has been doing a great job as the angry Christopher, and James Gandolfini has outdone himself, acting at the same caliber as he has since the first season.

If you feel like just getting into the show, be warned that the screenplay is just as dirty (if not dirtier) than past seasons. But it would not be advisable to start watching the show in its last season—viewers should get their hands on past season DVDs and work their way up as all six are intertwined. Though it has been failing to amaze as popular entertainment lately, the show is still one of the best on television and an absolute delight to watch.
