Student Council is one of the most well-known clubs in this school and it is the starting point for numerous activities throughout the school. This year however, it is undergoing some changes, starting with Spirit Week! The Student Council has been diligently working to make this year’s Spirit Week the best one yet. Some of the past favorite days have been brought back such as Band Tee Day and Dress to Impress Day. The week will end in the traditional green and white day to get everyone into the spirit for that evening’s Pep Rally which is always a huge hit. Expect to have more fun at the Pep Rally this year than you ever have had in the past!

This year’s student council board has dedicated themselves to making this major improvements and the school will be introduced to open-forum meetings. Students throughout the school will be able to attend a student council meeting once a month to verbalize their ideas to improve the school or to just sit in and learn about the new things going on. The Student Council feels that this is the perfect way to get everyone involved in the school and to make sure that all opinions are heard.

As always, the Lindenhurst Student Council is taking on numerous community service projects. In October, the school will once again host Safe Halloween, an evening of fun for younger children who enjoy themselves trick-or-treating and playing games with the high school students who generously volunteer their time to make sure the children in our community remain safe. Building on their commitment to giving to others, during the holiday season a giving tree will be set up which will enable people and clubs throughout the school to pick a person or an entire family to go holiday shopping for. Those who cannot afford to have all the things they may want are now given that chance thanks to this great act of kindness.

Student Council is also about improving student involvement. This year, all who wish to be a part of any of these community service acts or any other activities the student council organizes will be able to partake in these events. Committees will be created to allow everyone interested in making a difference to get a chance to do so. Whether it’s giving to those in need or fundraising to help the school, the Lindenhurst Student Council is making a huge difference with all of their activities and improvements throughout the school and the community.
