After the devastation of the Vietnam Conflict (1959-75), Americans thought that it would be impossible to have another Vietnam, or anything close to it.
Oh how wrong we all were. A much worst replica is happening in Iraq.
Once again, our lovely President Bush has proven himself to be the father of unimaginable realities. At this point, the only thing that could make the Iraq catastrophe worse, is nuclear warfare.
Let us recap: When the war began (March 19, 2003), America was “winning
The war on Terrorism” and “the end was near.”
On March 30, 2003 Mr. Donald Rumsfeld (former Secretary of Defense) said: “We know [where the Weapons of mass Destruction are]. They’re in the area around Tikrit and Bahghdad, and then on May 1, of the same year, Americans were fed: “My fellow Americans: Major combat operations in Iraq have ended,” words from your president.
Today, (over 4 years later) Senator Harry Reid is calling it the worst foreign policy mistake in U.S. history; a worse blunder than Vietnam.”
President Bush admits that he has made a mistake, and we have yet to see weapons of mass destruction.
However, we did manage to successfully kill the one person who could keep the Iraqi people under control -- yes, Sadaam Hussein.
Without a doubt, he was indeed cruel, but the saying throughout history is “it’s better to be feared than loved.” Let’s face it, the Iraqi people were better off with him than they are now, and probably ever will be.
Clearly, we are not fighting terrorism, because approximately a year after the war began, “The War on Terrorism” became The Iraq War. We are in denial. This is a repeat of Vietnam and we are indeed going to have to pull out of Iraq, leave the country in shambles, and leave the people there hanging on for dear life.
Living every day with the guilt of knowing that I killed thousands of innocent people, ruined an entire country, caused civil war and guerilla warfare, knowing that I was the cause of America falling from grace… would shame me. But, President Bush does not seem ashamed.
Instead, now that everything has gone wrong suddenly he, President Bush, is “open to suggestions.” What happened to winning? With Vietnam happening a second time, President Bush will go down in history as the worst President of ALL time. How lovely is that?
