  They are athletes who know how to spike a ball regularly, dive onto a shiny gym floor and aren’t afraid of getting bruises here and there. The girls’ volleyball team has been consecutively successful throughout the past years. 

Ten varsity players graduated with the class of ’10.Three seniors remain on the team, Avery Rice, Katie Mercado, and Sarah Takagaki. 

“I hope to win league,” said team captain Rice. 

Cassie Flores, starting setter, tore ligaments in her ankle during practice after the Carson game that took place on Sept. 15. The team is unsure when she will be returning to play. The team is running a new offense of 5-1 where Rice is now the only setter on the court
