On Feb. 24, three Venice auto shop students, Natalie Juarez, Ben Bautista, and Esdras Cuevas, competed in the UCLA Project Eco for the first time. They entered the New On Campus Business category and received 2nd place for their business proposal.

According to Bautista they “created a business proposal to begin charging people who bring in their cars.” They plan to repair cars for profit

He said that from the competition “he learned the basics of how to start a business.”

“It was a really cool experience. I will definitely do it again. I wish I would have started earlier,” said Bautista.

According to auto shop teacher Bob Azadi,Venice was invited to compete by the UCLA business school. The students had a very short time to prepare and they plan on participating in the competition annually.

The automotive service is now open for business.
