Last Monday, on Feb 5, the boys soccer team finished off the season with 2--0 victory over Fairfax. With the victory, the Gondos clinched the Western League Title, and the third seed in the City Section playoffs.

They will kick off their playoff run on Friday against

The Gondoliers have been pushed along all season by what coach Joe Hadley describes as a "prolific offense." As a team, the Gondos are leading the LA City section in goals scored. Hadley also says that the has a "balanced defense." They have scored 47 goals this year, compared to allowing only 16 to be scored against them.

On Jan 31, the Gondos flew by the Westchester Comets 8-2, with help from a 3 goal game from Bryan Escareno. Jose Reyes also scored twice.

Escareno and Reyes are both in the top ten in scoring in the City Section, Escareno is in fourth with 19 goals to his name, and Reyes is in a four way tie for 8th, with 13 goals on the year.

On Jan 29, the Gondos were leading Palisades 3-1 at the end of the second half, but gave up three goals in ten minutes in their second loss of the season.

Coach Hadley said that the game was important for the Gondos, because it was something of a reality check for the team. He said that the team had had minor overconfidence problems, but had learned that "if you expect to win and not do any work, your going to lose."

Hadley said that Gondos will probably be seeded highly in the City playoffs, and will need to work on finishing their chances more consistently if they want to make a deep playoff run.
