Talex Construction is building dining shelters on the northern and southern ends of the school.

One of the shelters is being built near the butterfly garden, which is projected to include vendors such as Starbucks.

Principal Matthew Welker is negotiating with a local franchise to obtain free trial products for a nine week period.

The vending program will be a student-run operation directed by the ESE students and business education teacher Drake Pearson.

“We’re trying to maintain a college feel, and this will help,” Welker said.

The northern patio near the attendance office will have vending machines, though no agreement with the product companies has been reached.

Welker also promises to replace damaged or deceased trees due to construction.

The shelters are to be completed before the beginning of the next school year. “Newer schools constructed dining shelters because everyone realized it’s a nice thing to have,” Welker said.
