Dancers, singers and orchestra players are just three aspects of the magnet presented on the “Star Academy” mural, which is painted in front of the attendance office behind the patio tables. The mural demonstrates pictures of the chorus, dance, drama and art magnets.

These collected images were added to the original designs of the mural designed last school year.

“The mural stands to promote and celebrate all the different strands of the magnet program,” head of the art magnet, Ernesto Montes, said.

Members of the National Art Honor Society started the designs last year, but due to a lack of time and the complexity of the mural, the project was pushed back to the 2007-2008 school year.

This year, Montes assigned the project to one of his sophomore level art classes as part of the curriculum and he plans to offer other similar projects to all of his art classes throughout the year.
