The Junior class at Teague High School received 500 dollars for their class for collecting the most pounds of food during the annual canned food drive. For the week of November 20th all classes were encouraged to bring non perishable food items and money to their designated room. Each dollar collected equaled 4 pounds of food. Seniors brought their collected food and money to Coach Walker. The Junior’s canned goods and money were collected in Mrs. Sheffield’s classroom. The Sophomore’s cans and money were collected in Coach Harris’ classroom, and the Freshmen class brought their cans and money to Mrs. McSwane’s classroom. 
    All the cans that were collected by the high school were given to the Lord’s Storehouse Once the cans and money were collected from the classrooms and counted, numerous members of Student Council delivered food to the Lord’s Storehouse. “When we brought the cans to the Lord’s Storehouse the workers were thrilled with this year’s results. Although we didn’t collect as many cans as last year, we still had a large amount of food. It took us about 25 minutes to unload all of the cans,” said Student Council president Taylor Hamilton. The cans were given to needy families to help provide food for their Thanksgiving Dinners.    
    Teague High School collected over 3,500 cans.  The Junior class dominated the school’s competition to collect the most food with 1,927 pounds. The Senior class received second place with 1,042 pounds. The Freshmen class received third place with 649 pounds. The Sophomore class collected 167 pounds of food.  Overall the food drive was very successful, and many families were given food because of the Teague High School’s participation.
