What is the purpose of Student Council? Student Council is a form of government by the students. Its’ purpose is to serve the community, student body, teachers, and to define leaders. Student Council holds meetings every other Thursday in Mrs. Waldrip’s room during lunch break. The meetings consist of discussing upcoming events and what the organization can do to help the better the community.One of the major events that StuCo puts on is freshmen orientation or fish camp. This year the StuCo officers picked out team colors and wore those colors the day of camp. The freshmen were split up into different color teams, where they sat with the officer of that team. The freshmen participated in ice breakers and were given a tour of the school. District Conventions are also another fun activity that StuCo participates in.  On October 12th, StuCo has their fall district convention at Midway High School. The purpose of the convention is to raise awareness of the things that are happening in the outside world and how we as students can help. It is an all day activity filled with fun, but also a great way to learn about helping the community. It is a great way to meet people from other schools and bond with students from your school.  In all StuCo is a great way to build social skills, get involved with the community and school, plus it looks great on a college application.
