For  new freshmen, the first day of school can be both nerve-racking and exciting. With more peoples, harder classes, and more responsibilities, high school can be a very intimidating place for incoming freshmen. But new events, organizations, and classes give students plenty of things to look forward to.

    Some students are excited to experience the more advanced core classes that will help them with their future. “I’m excited about science classes because I want to be a meteorologist,” Thomas Hamilton said.

    Many other freshmen are excited about specific electives that were not offered in junior high. “I’m really looking forward to theater,” Hunter Welch said.

    Yet other freshmen are happy about the wider variety of electives in general, instead of just having a select few to choose from”…Hopefully school will be a little more interesting as a result [of new electives],” Andrew Collins said.

    However, many other students are excited about the numerous organizations that they can join. “I’m excited about being a member of the flag line,” Denice Joplin said.

    There are many athletic and band practices that are held after school to help the freshmen and the other students prepare for the games and competitions. The freshmen are working extremely hard and have great attitudes. “It’s very fun and exciting! I love being a part of the team!” Yazmihn West said.

    The new freshmen seem to be more excited than nervous, and with their optimistic attitudes, the freshmen will hopefully have a great first year in high school.
