Prom is almost here ladies and gentlemen, which means everyone has scrambled to get the perfect dress and the perfect tux. Prom is all about fashion and showing off how elegantly glamorous you can look in front of your peers. Some find it to be a beauty show, merely there to showcase who the best looking couple can be.

            Either way, the trends are what make each prom different year-after-year. Whether it was the hippie styles of the 70’s or the punk styles of the 80’s and 90’s, there is always something new to keep teenagers everywhere on their toes.

            This year, animal print and metallic colors seem to be in. Animal print dresses accompanied with shining, glimmering metallic makeup to draw out the color in one’s eyes are near the top of the charts. Many will probably add shimmering heels to compliment the added sparkle.

            Updos have dominated prom since it was first created. Slightly down updos are in this year, along with the never-gets-old hair jewelry. Tiaras are a bit overplayed, but small ones to add an extra pizzazz to a dress should be alright. Mainly, head wraps and barrettes with fake diamonds are the hit.

            The way to drive up to prom will always be one of the most legendary experiences. There really is no specific style for this part of the night, since many couples have different tastes. This year though, many seem to want illuminated, fast, and sleek cars, like those from movies or magazines. Others want to go with the classic limo or parents vehicles.

            Either way, prom is a dangerous time no matter how glamorous one looks. Everyone needs to be careful on prom night, both before and after. Drinking and driving has already cost so many lives, and this would be one of the worst nights with how many crazy teenagers will be out on the roads. Be careful and be safe, but have an amazing night!
