It is that time of year again. Tux rentals and hair appointments made daily are sure signs of prom. This year, Tahlequah High School’s prom will provide an opportunity for a unique experience for each guest.

When in Rome… is the theme this year, and boasts a complete Roman atmosphere. The decorations, according to Holly Stocks, a teacher on the prom committee, will transport guests to a different place and time.

“The Roman theme is one all of us are excited for. The prom committee has spent many hours planning and decorating the ballroom to look Roman; complete with Colosseum look, fountains and statues,” said Stocks.

With over 400 tickets sold, this year has shown record-breaking ticket sales according to Paula Sloan, another faculty member on the prom committee. And with each ticket sold, another anxious guest gets ready for a memorable night.

“All my friends and I decided to go all out this year and have fun, prom was the perfect time,” said Chenea Tschirhart, 11.

Everyone has their own personal reasons why they go to prom, and to senior Seth Robinson it means more than just a school dance.

“I am looking forward to all the memories I will make and experience at my senior prom. It’s a sort of last big hurrah before graduation,” said Robinson.

Even though everyone will attend the same prom, the night will be a unique experience for every guest. Each person will start and end their night in a way unique to themselves to make a memorable experience for everyone.

“I plan on having dinner at my house with a few close friends before leaving for the prom,” said Maranda Keller, 12.

Will more tickets sold than any year previous, this year’s prom will be teeming with young couples with an ambiance of life in Rome.
