The main opposition to this plan is because of money and misinterpretation. For the challenge of money, this is going to hurt Uncle Sam a little with the current recession; however, not every decision can be solely based on cost. For example, people go in debt to buy houses, since it is a need. This is the same situation facing “Let’s Move.” The proposal is just a little more expensive- $400 million. For this to even be a possibility, there must be an increase in the money allotted for lunches, since most schools have about $2 to spend on every child’s lunch. Without an increase in money, healthy foods will be impossible for schools to afford. As for misinterpretation, some might think let’s not give into the Hollywood image like “Let’s Move” is promoting; while in reality, the first lady only has the health of youth of the United States in mind with her plan.

Having the next generation healthy benefits on her mind the first lady pushes for “Let’s Move.” Mrs. Obama told ABC News that one of the ways the country profits from good health is more soldiers, resulting in a larger, more effective United States army. She states another reason “Let’s Move” will benefit the country to ABC is that obesity is one of the leading reasons of bad health for citizens. In addition, a student often does not come to school, or if the student is there, he or she has difficulty paying attention, when the individual is ill. Our economy thrives on having an educated society, but this cannot happen if students are at home sick.

“Let’s Move” will be a smart move by our government, since in the long term, the country will benefit from the idea. Two areas in particular will profit from “Let’s Move-” economy and the health of the nation’s young. The latter area as far reaching affects into the future. For these reasons, schools should embrace “Let’s Move” for all good it will ultimately bring.
