One of the biggest gaming platform rivalries out there is the Microsoft Xbox360 and the Sony Playstation3 (Ps3).

Both are equipped with new technology, better graphics cards, processors, memory and of course their unique games.

Coming from three different generations, the Ps3 has made it a long way, from the Playstation one and two. As for Microsoft, their first platform was the regular Xbox. What sells these consoles is not only the hardware, but the games and the overall experience you can get.

“You can have the best hardware in the world, but if the games and the experience aren’t there, it doesn’t really matter,” said Paul Russel, video game developer in a recent review on ign.com.

And in that, Microsoft takes advantage. Everything about the Xbox360 and the Playstation3 is unique and different, down to the design, the technical aspect, and the games for each system. Now that Blu Ray tore apart HD DVD, you find more Microsoft enthusiasts buying the Playstation3.

If you’re into gaming you would probably find yourself with the online option on both consoles, playing with thousands of different people all across the world. In that aspect Xbox360 is the winner. Xbox Live is a big plus in owning not only an Xbox360 but also the Xbox.

As for Playstaion, the online experience is not as pleasant, with tons of software defects, and being a little difficult to operate. The interface on the Playstation3 reflects to the PSP (playstation portable) that is well designed but a little hard to handle, as the Xbox’s interface is more user friendly.

It’s a hard decision between both consoles, but if you like more sports and RPGs (role playing games), you should find yourself using the Playstation3 more.

As for the Xbox360, you have more first person shooters to choose from, and of course, the option to download games, trailers, and rent movies straight onto your Xbox’s hard drive.

A new innovation to both Playstation and Xbox is the hard drive. From a 20GB hard drive, to a 120GB hard drive, Xbox allows you to store your game progress, updates, videos, and demos. As for the Playstation3 you have the choice of having a 40GB, 60GB, or 80GB hard drive.

Depending on your choice of gaming or the technology, the choice is yours: either the Playstation3 or the Xbox360, or if you have the money – both.
