The resurrection of Rap has begun and its savior’s name is Lupe Fiasco. Lupe is a new face in the Rap world that made his debut along side Kanye West in the single “Touch the Sky.”

His amazing vocals showcase a new taste of Rap. His lyrics are sensational that illustrate a new view on the Rap scene that isn’t all about materialism. The 24 year old, Chicago-based Muslim rapper was an underground sensation, before his debut album “Food and Liquor” was released September 25.

Lupe, the youngest of nine brothers, was raised on the west side of Chicago and began rapping when he was in the eighth grade.

According to the Atlantic Records website, Lupe’s record label, Lupe began taking rapping seriously when he was 17, and it shows. His thought provoking lyrics make you see the world around you in a different way.

In is song “Daydream,” he talks about how the children in today’s world are losing their innocence when they see Hip Hop videos. This song shows how the Hip Hop world has changed to something revolving around materialism.

In his song “Hurt Me Soul,” Lupe states that he hates Hip Hop, but still played the song. “Hurt Me Soul” shows how Lupe hates the state that Hip Hop is in today, and how it revolves around stereotypes.

His lyrics show the ups and downs of the world, which is what the title of his album “Food & Liquor” is based on. The world is full of food, things that help you and feed you, and then you have your liquor, the poisons of the world and things that only want to bring you down.

On Lupe’s website he states that he tries to have a balance between the two. However, one thing that’s for sure is that there is no liquor on this album; it’s pure genius.
