“It was interesting and educational,” said senior Sarah Kersey as she reflected on her recent trip to BODYWORLDS 2 with her Health Occupations class. “I got to see the body in a different light which was weird. It is an experience I’ll never forget”

Sarah along with seven other students from LHS and Whiting High along with their teacher Lorraine Saulino-Klein on May 11 went down to the feature exhibit, BODYWORLDS 2, at Denver’s Museum of Natural History and Science to reinforce their knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the human body.

The students are currently getting clinical hours at the Laramie Care Center that are required to take the Wyoming Certified Nursing Assistant test. One of the goals of going down to the museum was to learn more about the function of aging bodies so the students could use the information that the exhibit provided in the work at the nursing home.

BODYWORLDS 2 is described as The Anatomical Exhibition of Real Human Bodies. Dr. Gunther von Hagens, a licensed physician and anatomist, created the exhibit. According to the website http://www.dmns.org about the exhibit “visitors to the exhibit learn about the anatomy, physiology, and the influence of lifestyle choices--such as diet and exercise-- and personal health by viewing real human bodies permanently preserved through an innovative method called Plastination”
