Senator Mike Enzi received an honorary degree from the Snowy Range FFA last Tuesday at the Teachers’ Appreciation Luncheon honoring teachers and celebrating National FFA Week.

Enzi met with the officers prior to the luncheon where they discussed vocational education, the importance of advanced placement classes, and the Perkins act. At the luncheon, he gave a brief speech and entertained questions from teachers.

Special guests at the luncheon include, superintendent Brian Recht, assistant superintendent Mike Bowman, school board member Amy Jenkins, and Wyoming FFA State Officers, President Brendan Thoman, Secretary Whitney Waymen, and Reporter Clayton Elliot.

Besides the luncheon, activities of the week included, volunteering at the soup kitchen on Monday. Members wore their “FFA: Back in Blue” t-shirts on Wednesday to celebrate this year’s theme. Members were rewarded fro their hard work throughout the year with cookies on Thursday. Friday, the entire student body received gum, which is a beef-by product to promote agriculture.

On Feb. 15, Chapter officers Eli Robbins-Lilley, President; Amanda Robbins-Lilley, Reporter; Megan Holland, Secretary; Matt Haigler, Sentinal; Chelsea Faris, Parlimentarian; Nik Kennedy, Vice President; and Principal Kim Sorenson had a proclamation signed by Mayor Jodi Guerin to officially declare Feb 19-26 as National FFA Week in Albany County. They were recognized at the city council meeting, which is broadcast on channel eleven.
