Snowy Range FFA Chapter, along with Rock Creek FFA, held their second annual Member Auction and Rocky Mountain Oyster/Chili Feed on Jan 27 at the Albany County Fairgrounds.

Snowy Range auctioned off 70 members and Snowy Range FFA adviser and LHS Ag teacher, Danielle Cox while Rock Creek auctioned of 15 members and their adviser, Mr. Brian Coxbill.

Many Snowy Range members said they had a lot of fun and enjoyed the Rocky Mountain oysters, as well as the chili. Paul Kunkel provided the chili and Phil Quirk with SODEXHO, who gave the chapters, provided the rest of the dinner. There was over 60 pounds of oysters. The chapters served about 320 people, allowing each chapter to make approximately a $200 profit. Beth Wood, Snowy Range vice-president said, “I would like to send a huge thank you to Mr. Quirk for giving us a great deal on all the food supplies!”

The live member auction was also big hit. Snowy Range FFA made about $4490, while Rock Creek made about $2005.

There was a lot of community support and the FFA members appreciate it. Kevin Kellogg, the Snowy Range sentinel said, “It was flipping’ fantastic!”

Along with the live auction, there was also a silent auction with items donated from various businesses and people around the community. The silent auction brought in about $910 for Snowy Range. “I was impressed with how well the silent auction went,” said Michala Lindley, Snowy Range FFA Chapter president.

All in all, both chapters benefited from this experience! Jaymes Talbott, Snowy Range reporter said, “It was a good time and the food was great!” While their were a lot of comments on how things went Cox added, “It was fun and we had a great turn out! We made a lot of money and we hope more people come next year!”
