The following series of stories deal with the new “modified 3 x2 schedule” instituted by the administration for the 2006-2007 school year.

As part of a writing activity in the fourth block journalism class students were asked to write about this major change from a variety of angles.

Along with writing several news and feature stories on this topic, students in the fourth block Journalism class and in one English 10 class—both taught by journalism teacher Bob Roth—students were invited to express their feelings and opinions on this topic.

The students learned that the expression of one’s opinion or commenting on the news is one of the primary functions of any newspaper. This function enables “readers to discover what the news means and what others say about it.”

Through these articles students were allowed and encouraged to comment on this issue thus providing a “voice” for this group of LHS students.
