Emerald Ridge v. Spanaway Lake -

The Spanaway Lake football team has stepped up their game so far this season. Winning two of the four games would normally be a major let down, but the team effort still makes them a strong force.
The game against Tahoma was such a close loss that it was nice that it was a non-league game and will not count towards the Sentinel’s league record. The boys played very hard and worked well together.
“The Tahoma game was an emotional let down,” said senior quarterback Alex Dinsmore. “It had nothing to do with athleticism.”
“This year is going to be our year. The whole team has been playing very hard and giving outstanding effort. I know with teamwork like this we will be a hard team to beat,” said backup quarterback Keith Huebner.
The team’s motto this season is “Go hard or go home” and the Sentinels plan to live by that each game.
After the tough Tahoma loss, the Sentinels went up to Federal Way and crushed Thomas Jefferson 46-18. Four of the team’s seven touchdowns came from the 2-yard line or closer. Dinsmore scored three times, while running backs Eddie Brazier and Rico Taitingfong and fullback John Frackenpohl had the rest.
The following week, the team suffered a disappointing loss to the Graham-Kapowsin Eagles, 26-0.
With the loss behind them, the Sentinels beat up on the Jaguars of Emerald Ridge, winning 21-15. Running back Woo Johnson returned the opening kickoff of the second half, 88 yards to open the scoring for the Sentinels. The team played hard and fought until the buzzer sounded to end the game.
With more five games remaining, it will be interesting to see how this young team progresses.
The team will play tomorrow, September 30th at Sparks Stadium against the Rogers Rams.
