The volleyball team has fought a hard battle the past six games. Although they only came out on top twice, they assure a positive attitude along with goals they intend on accomplishing. The girls are strong individually, but stronger as a whole. The bond between them simplifies the understanding and communication. They have much room for improvement with the season just beginning.
“I always say to myself, keep my head up and continue to fight for state,” said captain Chantilly Watson. Learning is a profession, and these girls learn something new each day. The team’s main goal is making it to state. With a record of 2-4 if they continue to improve, they could meet their goal by the end of the season. According to coach Allison Sheneman, improvement is made with each practice and game. Learning from each other is also another constant improvement.
The Lady Sentinels played extremely well against the undefeated Roger Rams. Winning only one of three matches, the intensity of the crowd and desire of the team, helped rattle the Rams in the second match. Although the girls did not take the victory, they showed that they were capable of competing against a stronger team. By the looks on their faces, you were able to see the strive and effort that they put into that game. The level of intensity was clearly at its highest.
This year’s starting line-up consists of Chantilly Watson, Megan Holyoke, Shelan Swick, Chyna Swick, Carrina Wagner, and Crystal Blackburn. Paige Dinsmore comes in as a defender. This season is promising for the Sentinels and if they fight to meet their goals they are sure to accomplish them. They will improve as a team, as individuals, and as athletes. Lady Sentinels to State!
