If you have attended a Danville High School basketball or football game in the last four years, then you have most likely heard Tryston Ford’s name mentioned numerous times. Ford has been a big part of DHS sports for the last four years, whether it’s scoring touchdowns on fall Friday nights or making baskets throughout the winter months, it seems like he is always out on the field or court making plays.

Ford was the lone Admiral to be invited to play in the Kentucky All-Star game down at the The University of Cumberlands stadium. Ford also won the title of Class AA, District 7 player of the year with his impressive leadership on and off the field. He had a team high of 24 touchdowns and they came in all different fashions: rushing, kick returns, passing, receiving and even defensive touchdowns. These impressive statistics and Ford’s proven ability to score in a variety of ways have gotten him noticed by college coaches nationally. Ford says, "I’m being looked by several schools including Morehead State, University of the Cumberlands, Georgetown, Lindsey Wilson, Union, Thomas More and Pikeville."

In this year’s basketball season, Ford has already broken Cliff Berry’s single game scoring record of 39 points with an outstanding 41 point game against Louisville Southern. Averaging 20 points per game, Ford said, "No schools have contacted me so far, but coach Z says that some schools are going to."

At the Boyle County game the Admirals recently won, it was obvious that when Ford was on the floor the Admirals were a different team.

"He just puts fear in the other team’s defense because of his ability to get to the basket pretty much at will," commented senior teammate Rob Caudill.

Whatever he decides, there is no doubt that Ford has a great future ahead of him in college, whether he plays football, basketball or both. Ford said, "I’m not sure which one I want to play in the future yet."
