For the Admiral fans who like to see the batter swing, don’t blink; you may miss out on an Admiral home run. Already aiming towards the regional championships, the Danville Admiral baseball players are at it again for the 2008 season.

The Admirals are anxious to join their “family” again and to keep the Admiral tradition alive. “Whether it’s on the field or in school, we’re always together,” explained senior Will Ray. “Spending countless hours at practice and games ultimately turns us from good friends to very close family.”

“We hang out to kill time on the weekends and we have known each other since elementary school,” said junior James Crawford. “That makes us a family."

The team is ready to improve their skills as a family and to take the region and district championships again this year.

Keeping their experiences in mind, the Admirals are looking forward to the season. “I have learned that baseball is not a single man sport; it takes a team to win and lose. The most important factor in baseball is your teammates,” said Ray.

Whether it’s hand-eye coordination or speed and agility, the strengths and skills of the Admiral family will be put into play for the 2008 season.

“There are a lot of people looking down on the team this year. I am looking forward to proving them wrong,” said Ray.

Last year, the Admiral baseball team won the All “A” Region title, the 45th district championship and was ranked fourth in Kentucky baseball standings.
